BULLMASTIFF CLUB OF KZN - RESCUE SCHEME

The dogs we re-home are given up for a number of reasons: a family moves and is unable or unwilling to take their pet along, an owner dies, a partnership breaks up, changes to living or working arrangements. The list is endless. We take on the job to find these Bullmastiffs a loving home.

COST
To help cover the substantial cost of rescuing dogs and running the organisation, we appreciate a donation of whatever is affordable. Senior dogs and those with special needs are handled individually and a smaller donation may be acceptable.

WAITING LIST
Please be prepared to have your name added to a waiting list. To the best of our ability we try to match each dog with the most suitable owner. The length of time you wait depends on your requirements in a dog as well as the dog's requirements of an owner. If you are flexible about your dog's age and sex, your wait may be less. Not all dogs are suitable for re-homing in environments with other animals or with dogs of the same sex.

CHILDREN
It is our policy not to place a dog into a home with young children unless we know that the dog is accustomed to them.

HOW TO ADOPT A DOG
Our rescued Bullmastiffs are very special to us and we insist upon finding them the very best homes. To be considered as an adopting owner you must be willing to:

  • Return the dog to the Bullmastiff Club of KZN if for any reason you can no longer keep it. The dog must never be sold or given away - to anyone - including family members.
  • Keep your dog as a household pet. Bullmastiffs are sociable dogs and require human companionship, and as such should not spend all their time outside and away from people.
  • Keep the dog in good health and give it good care. This includes providing all the necessary veterinary care and insurance. Proper care of a dog includes ensuring that it has fresh water and food, appropriate sleeping quarters, proper grooming, training, exercise and attention.
  • Have available a securely fenced garden/yard or appropriate run for the dog to use. We will not home a dog unless it has a secure outside area.
