PLUTO FINDS A NEW HOME

The Club received a call from a very distraught lady who was ready to wing her way to Australia. Her Bullmastiff, Pluto, needed a new home, but it was breaking her heart. An e-mail was put out to the members, and by return we received an answer from one of our members, Shaun Lyle. As luck would have it, his in-laws were visiting from Botswana and they would love to give Pluto a new home. It wasn’t all plain sailing, as they had to get clearance from the State vet, but they managed it. His new owners, Ron & San Darby & their dog Bracken are thrilled with Pluto.
ANOTHER SUCCESS STORY FOR OUR RESCUE SCHEME
The week before Christmas I received a phone call asking for our club’s help in re-homing a Bullmastiff before the year end.
We put the wheels into motion immediately, sending out over 100 e-mails. Although a bad time of year, we could only hope that someone out there could give this 4 year old boy a new home. On Christmas Eve I received a phone call offering just that – what better Christmas gift could I want??
ANOTHER BULLMASTIFF FINDS A NEW HOME THROUGH OUR RESCUE SCHEME
The Rescue Scheme is one of the most important aspects of this club, and when we can say that it is also one of the most successful aspects, then it’s most satisfying. This sweet girl has found a super new home in Gauteng, and she is going to take a rather boisterous 8 months old male puppy under her wing as one of her new duties. I’m sure she will fit into her new roles as auntie and playmate just fine.

Yet Another Rescue Success Story
This brindle youngster was given up for ‘rescue’ because she ‘bumped’ the toddler and the toddler fell down!!!!! We had four homes waiting for her, and one of our existing members, Shaun Lyle, was the lucky person to take her home. She, like our last rescue girl, is going to keep a male Bullmastiff puppy company. We would like to thank Kay from Animal Lodge, (who works tirelessly to rescue all breeds), for taking her in until a suitable home was found, which in this case took just three days. Kay also boards dogs and cats, so if you are looking for a good ‘doggie hotel’ that we can highly recommend, then give Kay a ring on (031) 783 4807. Her kennels are near Inchanga, in KZN
Sasha & Ibu

Abandoned at a rental house without food or water. 'Owner' beat
up his partner and put her in hospital, then did a bunk from the
police. The dogs eventually broke out of the garden and the neighbours
took turns to look after them until they wandered away. A wonderful
lady found them when they were scavenging for a meal in dustbins
on Umkomaas beach. She took them home, neutered the male and spayed
the female and nursed them back to health. She did some enquiries
and found out that the female had a litter of 14 on her first season,
but the 'owner' let them all die.
These dogs were placed within a week of the club getting them into
the Rescue Scheme.
Brumbie & Storm

Both were 3 years old and had to be re-homed due to the owners
moving into a complex which didn’t take dogs. They had grown
up together and we tried to place them together but eventually had
to split them up. Even though the owners gave us plenty of warning
of the need to re-home, they were only placed within the last week.
Teaka

Teaka is a 3 years old red female Bullmastiff who has been spayed.
She was blind in one eye from birth, but that didn’t seem
to worry her. As a puppy she attended social obedience classes and
therefore she was very well mannered. We were only given 3 days
notice by the owner, but eventually we had three homes to choose
from for placement of Teaka – what a good situation.
We have successfully re-homed several other Bullmastiffs since
the inception of the Rescue Scheme, but did not manage to obtain
photos of them.
